October 15, 2009 - Restoring Local Islands:

Dr. Ann Hodgson will talk about restoring local islands to natural habitat and Bowlees Creek, the newest project in Manatee County.

November 19, 2009 - Sandhill Cranes:

Ron Mayberry—renowned photographer, birder, and MCAS member—will discuss this fascinating bird and share some of his beautiful pictures.

December 17, 2009 - Rarest Hawk in Florida and Holiday Party:

Ken Meyer from Avian Research and Conservation will talk about the short-tailed hawk. Bring a treat to share at our annual holiday party after the program.

January 21, 2010 - Conservation of Lands in Manatee County:

Charlie Hunsicker, Director of Conservation Land Management, will talk about conserving valuable lands in Manatee County.

February 18, 2010 - Alligators, Sharks, and Panthers:

Naturalist author Charles Sobczak, Sanibel Island, will discuss his latest book.

March 18, 2010 - Where Have All the Birds Gone?

Owen Comara will talk about his study of local birds during the last nine years. Some birds are in trouble, while the population of others has increased.

April 15, 2010 - Annual Potluck and Installation of Officers:

Meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., an hour early, for annual potluck supper and brief review of the year. Bring a dish to share and your own plate, cup, and utensils.
